Senior Client Accountant / Associate Director London £50k-£65k
The role:An experienced Property Senior Client Accountant with a proven track record of property accounting within a designated portfolio for a diverse range of clients. Advanced technical skills in accounting knowledge ability to manage accounting systems plus the ability to use Excel at an advanced level for bespoke reporting and introducing process efficiencies.
Duties:
Provide support to the Head of Accounts, with responsibilities including:
Signing off month end reports and bank reconciliations
Review and sign off S/C year end reconciliations
Prepare S/C cash reconciliations
Provide training within the team, both through formal training sessions and ad hoc mentoring to support and improve accounting and excel skills and knowledge
Manage a portfolio of properties with responsibility for:
Daily posting of tenant receipts and reconciliation of discrete client bank accounts
Arranging transfers of rental income to clients
Accurate maintenance of the property lease database
Preparation of VAT reports, financial reports and other bespoke reports for clients
Reviewing funding levels, identifying the cause of funding issues and resolving
Being the accounting point of contact for clients
Working with clients to understand their needs, interpret their demands and respond as appropriate
Requirements:
Ability to prepare reconciliations using manual or system cash books
Ability to apply RICS regulations to everyday situations Accounting to Client
Be able to prepare year end service charge accounts
Prepare service charge cash reconciliations
Identify the cause of service charge funding issues and assist in resolving Cash Reconciliations
Ability to prepare and analyse cash reconciliations using general ledger reports
Ability to investigate unidentified items on cash reconciliations and clear them down in a timely manner VAT
Understanding of general principles of VAT returns
Understanding of the application of VAT in commercial property Property Sales & Management Handover
Understanding of accounting requirements on inward and outward handover
Ability to calculate service charge cash surplus/deficit on sale Technical knowledge & experience
Ability to identify funds available for transfer to client and reconcile rental balance held
Ability to produce accurate monthly / quarterly client & VAT statements in line with specified accounting deadlines
Ability to analyse general ledger reports and prepare, reconcile and present Trial Balance reporting • Ability to adapt client reporting to meet client specific requirements for producing bespoke reports; application of Excel to client reporting Service Charges
• I.T. – Property Accounting systems experience and understanding.
• Trial Balance Accounting – experience of preparing, reconciling and presenting TB reporting
• Advanced excel skills including the use of pivot tables, vlookups and if formulas
• Compliance – in depth knowledge and understanding of RICS, CIS & NRL regulations
