Income Recovery Officer – Residential portfolio Surrey £33k – £35k
The role: This new position is managing a mixed tenure portfolio consisting of social housing residential tenancies, leasehold and shared ownership tenants overseeing income streams and ensuring effective credit control across the portfolio.
You will work closely with tenancy officers, finance, and housing management teams to ensure the efficient collection of rent, service charges, and leasehold payments, as well as proactive management of arrears.
Duties:
Monitor and reconcile rent, service charge, and leasehold accounts across a variety of tenancy types.
Pursue late or outstanding payments through professional and empathetic communication via telephone, email, and written correspondence.
Liaise with tenants, leaseholders, and shared owners regarding account queries.
Serve legal notices and manage enforcement procedures, including court attendance if required.
Collaborate with Housing Benefit and Universal Credit to resolve payment issues and arrange direct payments.
Identify vulnerable tenants and work with housing officers to provide tailored support.
Maintain accurate records and generate reports to monitor arrears and income performance.
Assist in developing income management processes for current and future portfolios.
Requirements:
Experience in credit control or income management within the housing or property sector – Essential.
Experience with social housing tenancies leasehold and shared ownership – Essential.
A good understanding the Social Landlord Pre-Action Protocol for Possession Claims – Essential
Familiarity with Housing Benefit and Universal Credit processes – Essential.
