The role: The Client Accountant works as part of a team and is responsible for all aspects of client and property accounting within a designated portfolio made up of residential, commercial and mixed-use properties.
Duties:
Managing the financial accounts of real estate clients, ensuring accurate financial reporting
Overseeing rent collections, financial transactions and property budgets for your set portfolio
Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Manage the financial accounts for multiple properties, including rent collections and service charge accounting.
Assist clients in the preparation of property budgets and forecasts and subsequent financial analysis.
Oversee the billing and invoicing process for tenants and landlords
Follow up on outstanding invoices as necessary
Manage rent collection for clients, monitoring payment schedules, and pursuing arrears when necessary.
Work with the team to implement payment plans and recovery strategies for overdue payments.
Prepare VAT returns and assist clients with any tax-related matters as needed.
Perform reconciliations on client accounts, including bank reconciliations.
Ensuring that expenses are accurately allocated to tenants and reconciled regularly.
Maintain strong relationships with clients.
Assist with year-end audits
Requirements:
Proven experience in property management accounting, including rent collections, service charges, and property-related financial transactions.
Familiarity with real estate tax regulations and VAT returns.
Experience with property management software (e.g., TRAMPS, Yardi, MRI, or similar) is desirable.
Strong analytical and financial reporting skills
Excellent communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Ability to work under pressure
