Client Accountant – 12 month Fixed Term Contract
London/Reading
£30 – £42k

The role: The Client Accountant works as part of a team and is responsible for all aspects of client and property accounting within a designated portfolio made up of residential, commercial and mixed-use properties.

Duties:

  • Managing the financial accounts of real estate clients, ensuring accurate financial reporting
  • Overseeing rent collections, financial transactions and property budgets for your set portfolio
  • Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Manage the financial accounts for multiple properties, including rent collections and service charge accounting.
  • Assist clients in the preparation of property budgets and forecasts and subsequent financial analysis. 
  • Oversee the billing and invoicing process for tenants and landlords
  • Follow up on outstanding invoices as necessary
  • Manage rent collection for clients, monitoring payment schedules, and pursuing arrears when necessary.
  • Work with the team to implement payment plans and recovery strategies for overdue payments.
  • Prepare VAT returns and assist clients with any tax-related matters as needed.
  • Perform reconciliations on client accounts, including bank reconciliations.
  • Ensuring that expenses are accurately allocated to tenants and reconciled regularly. 
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Assist with year-end audits 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in property management accounting, including rent collections, service charges, and property-related financial transactions.
  • Familiarity with real estate tax regulations and VAT returns.
  • Experience with property management software (e.g., TRAMPS, Yardi, MRI, or similar) is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and financial reporting skills
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work under pressure
